Legion of Jerry is born of the desire of a few like minded musicians. We LOVE the Jerry Garcia Band and the material Jerry chose to tackle with JGB. The songs are just too good not to be played and we do it out of a passion for the material to still live and breathe.

We have all gathered our collective musical sensibilities for the SOUL purpose of paying homage to the late great Jerry Garcia, a very human hero to all of us. Not only was Garcia a master musician and composer, he was an American treasure, akin to Mark Twain or Will Rogers in their respective endeavors. Through the medium of music, Garcia oozed Americana. His was an enormous melting pot of musical genres, reflecting his unique and patently interesting interpretations of Folk, Gospel, Blues, Country, Bluegrass, Motown, Funk, Jazz, Rhythm & Blues, Rockabilly, Cajun, Reggae, and of course good ol’ Rock & Roll. Without the influence of Garcia, some of us would never have immersed ourselves in these various American forms.

Our intentions are purely to celebrate the music of this very special man. Since there are already some great bands that focus heavily on The Grateful Dead, it is our vision to concentrate more on Jerry’s other collaborations, especially the Jerry Garcia Band. We vow to give this music the respect it deserves, and to cover it in roses…and skulls alike. Please join us in this celebration.
